The Scoop: If dating feels more like a chore than a treat, it’s time to mix it up. Attending in-person dating events can be an exciting way to refresh your experience. MME Social offers in-person events for singles across the United Kingdom. Social club members enjoy dinner parties, cocktail hours, and other organic events that nurture professional and romantic connections.
Burnout doesn’t just happen at work— it can happen in your dating life, too. Burnout occurs after long periods of stress and leaves people feeling overwhelmed, drained, and unable to keep up with the tasks expected of them.
Burnout has emotional and mental symptoms as well as physical symptoms. It can cause you to get sick frequently, feel tired all the time, and even affect your appetite and sleep habits.
Dating burnout can develop after you’ve earnestly put yourself out there and aren’t getting the results you want. If you’re dating online, this can look like never making it out of the chat, getting ghosted, or going on a series of bad or forgettable first dates.
It is difficult to show up to dating authentically. Burnout can make it impossible.
Mandy Mee is a matchmaker, dating coach, and the founder of MME Social, a service offering in-person events for singles across the United Kingdom. She talked to us about her in-person social club and how singles can attend events to cultivate new personal, professional, and romantic relationships.
MME Social keeps mingling inviting and simple, making it a great way to handle dating burnout without getting out of the scene entirely.
MME Social connects people for relaxed and organic parties, dinners, and meetups that are free from the awkwardness of many traditional speed dating services. The company’s events are elegant, sophisticated, and tailored to fit the needs of busy professionals.
MME Social offers a variety of in-person events, including cocktail parties, networking mixers, and upscale dinners. The club’s meetings are expertly balanced to include balanced ratios of men and women, and members are supported as they connect with each other after the event.
“I wanted to create an opportunity for people to be their own matchmaker,” Mandy said. “Singles just don’t know where to meet people in real life. So I created an experience where they can. It’s not speed dating– it’s an entirely unique experience.”
A Simpler Way to Meet IRL
Mandy created MME Social after seeing a need in the matchmaking world. Mandy’s matchmaking agency, The MME Agency, is an international exclusive introductions agency for single professionals and UHNWI. The MME Agency’s approach is discreet, confidential, and tailored for singles who are ready for serious commitment.
“I realized some of the singles interested in The MME Agency didn’t really want to be tied down with some kind of membership and were also open to socializing,” Mandy said. “I wanted to create something for them. I envisioned and produced MME Social as a portal for unique experiences where these singles can easily meet in real life.”
Mandy said the prevalence of online dating has left many singles confused about meeting people offline. Services like speed dating have been around for a while, but many singles may not feel comfortable with the quick-paced format.
“I didn’t want it to be speed dating,” Mandy said. “So I went a different direction. I thought to take the form of networking events, but catering them to singles who either want to find a business partner, friend, romantic connection, or all of the above.”
Singles are encouraged to meet and mingle at MME Social events, without the stricter format of speed dating or other kinds of dating events. The service keeps the atmosphere low-expectation while cultivating high-quality conversations.
Membership to MME Social is by-application and offers singles yearly access to events, offers, dating tips, and newsletters. Members receive exclusive access to premium events and networking opportunities, plus priority booking for meetups.
“We cater to senior professionals and leaders from all walks of life,” Mandy said. “We are a hub where ambitious individuals can connect. Our members want more out of life and want to achieve greatness. That’s what MME Social is for.”
Events for Personal, Professional, & Romantic Connections
MME Social hosts events in London. Past events have included Valentine’s Day wine tastings and exclusive and intimate soirees. Mandy leads some events herself, acting as a guide through the night and a conduit for compelling conversations.
Mandy said an important aspect of MME Social’s success is its collaborations with different businesses, establishments, and individuals. In August 2023, MME Social hosted a networking event in partnership with Augustine Jewels. Singles learned how to grade and value diamonds while making new connections.
Mandy said she wants events to stay unconventional and offer singles experiences they can’t find elsewhere. London-area singles can keep an eye on the schedule to find events that are interesting to them.
“I’m really excited about our upcoming event scheduled on August 8, 2024, we’re calling it Ndidi,” Mandy said. “We’re featuring a sensational artist named Àsìkò. I’m an art enthusiast and just fascinated by his work. He’s a photographer and visual artist and his work is so intriguing.”
Àsìkò is a British Nigerian artist whose art explores femininity, masculinity, spirituality, and nature. “He delves into a variety of artwork, from photography to painting to implementing AI in very interesting ways,” Mandy said.
The intimate mixer will encourage people to build personal and professional connections through a shared experience of art and culture. “When we collaborate with artists and reputable individuals like Àsìkò, it’s also a great way to break the ice and have engaging conversations,” Mandy said.
One thing unites all MME Social experiences– attention to detail. Mandy and her team spend hours planning experiences that are bespoke, intimate, and engaging, without being too overwhelming or stiff.
Clear Expectations Make For an Uplifting Dating Experience
Avoiding dating burnout requires a multidimensional approach to make the experience less stressful. Attending in-person events can help, but you may also need to take a break and readjust your mindset.
Taking a break from dating can help you recharge and gain a new perspective. During this time, spend time with friends and family and focus on doing things you enjoy. Once you feel recharged, you can begin to rebuild your dating plan and goals. Be careful to set realistic goals and expectations for yourself during this process.
Singles usually enjoy dating most when they keep an open mind. Instead of making your dating goal to find your lifelong partner as quickly as possible, focus on enjoying the process, meeting new people, and learning new things about yourself.
“Be yourself, and put yourself out there,” Mandy said. “I know a lot of singles are burnt out. They’re tired of meeting the wrong people and I understand how discouraging that must feel. When it gets exhausting– take a breather and focus on your mental health.”
You can’t date when you’re mentally exhausted. Once you’ve dialed back in and recovered from burnout, you’ll find that your outlook on dating may be more positive.
“You can put yourself back out there again, but intentionally and strategically,” Mandy said. “You can be very honest with yourself about what it is you’re looking for, be strict with your expectations, and, most importantly– not tolerate nonsense.”
