The Scoop: For over 30 years, Gramercy Mansion has charmed visitors with its lavish suites, landscaped gardens, and friendly staff. This historic mansion is surrounded by the greenery of Stevenson, Maryland, yet it’s just minutes away from Baltimore’s Inner Harbor. Hundreds of couples have trusted Gramercy Mansion to host their elopements, wedding ceremonies, vow renewals, anniversary parties, and a variety of romantic celebrations, and the intimate bed and breakfast is a favorite among honeymooners and weekend travelers looking to get away.

Many brides fear rain on their wedding days — especially if they’re planning to tie the knot outside — but versatile wedding venues can always offer work-arounds for rainy days.

Gramercy Mansion has an experienced team of event specialists with hundreds of weddings under their belt, so a little rain won’t get the better of them. For instance, when gray clouds started threatening Gab C. on her big day, Gramercy’s team kept calm, watched the skies, and carried on with the wedding plans, which included a rehearsal dinner on the outdoor patio.

Gramercy Mansion is one of Maryland’s premier wedding destinations.

Gab said she and her guests were enjoying a cocktail hour with a Mariachi band when a light rain started to fall. The rain came and went within a few minutes, and Gramercy’s staff quickly went outside to replace all the wet chair cushions with dry ones. The celebration continued without interruption.

“My husband and I knew we were in good hands, so we did not worry,” Gab said in a review. “We are deeply grateful for the professionalism and attention to detail of the Gramercy staff.”

Gramercy Mansion is a beautiful Tudor mansion situated on 45 acres of wooded gardens just outside Baltimore, and that alone makes it a popular wedding venue. The setting is undeniably beautiful, but the attentive staff and stellar service can truly make this destination shine.

Since 1985, Gramercy Mansion has opened its doors to guests hoping to get away from the stresses of daily life and spend time in the lap of luxury.

“The bed and breakfast is full of rich history, beautiful artwork, and lavish furniture,” said Sarah Cullison, the Marketing and Social Media Director at Gramercy Mansion. “It’s like taking a step back in time — although modern amenities still keep the rooms comfortable.”

A Bed & Breakfast Surrounded by Private Wooded Gardens

Gramercy Mansion has 11 overnight guest rooms that range in size and price point. All rooms have a cable television set, a phone, a refrigerator, a microwave, fresh flowers, and free WiFi. Some of the larger suites have even more amenities, including a DVD player, a fireplace, and a marble bath with heated floors.

Some of Gramercy’s rooms give couples a panoramic view of the surrounding valley, and others overlook the pool and wedding gardens.

Many wedding parties take up the entire mansion and have the run of the place during the festivities. Couples don’t have to book rooms at Gramercy Mansion to have their wedding here, but it is encouraged because it’s a fun way to treat themselves the morning and night of the big day.

Gramercy Mansion has many Instagram-worthy spots for couples making memories together.

Gramercy Mansion is a bed and breakfast, so newlyweds who choose to stay here can have a stack of pancakes or a made-to-order omelet to start their first day as a married couple on a high note. Gramercy’s American-style breakfast menu is served in the first-floor dining room between 7 a.m. and 9:30 a.m.

The private and romantic atmosphere at Gramercy wins over guests from all walks of life. From the private pool to the tennis courts, the bed and breakfast offers many relaxing spaces to unwind with loved ones.

As Sarah noted, “While we are close to major interstates, making travel easy for guests, we are secluded on 45 acres, so noise is almost non-existent and our gardens are romantic and welcoming for any occasion.”

A Small, Family-Focused Team Welcomes Everyone

Anne Pomykala became the owner of Gramercy Mansion in 1985, and she began transforming the 20th-century landmark into a bed and breakfast.

Today, Anne runs Gramercy Mansion alongside her daughter Cristin Kline. Cristin’s two children work there as well.

Gramercy Mansion definitely has a family feel to it. The bed and breakfast’s tight-knit team makes an effort to get to know guests and welcome them into the fold, so they feel right at home.

Overnight guests can enjoy a delicious and filling breakfast in the Gramercy’s ornate dining room.

Some of Gramercy’s staff members have decades of experience in event planning and hospitality. Corporate Events Specialist Maria Webb, for example, started working at Gramercy in 1996, and she still enjoys serving fresh coffee to guests in the morning.

Doris, the Director of Housekeeping, has been at Gramercy for over 20 years and always comes to work with a smile. In addition to her daily responsibilities, Doris can sometimes step in as a Spanish-speaking wedding officiant to marry guests.

“With a small team, individual talents are always highlighted and used to continue making our venue better,” Sarah said. “The owners live in the mansion full time and really focus on providing a home away from home for our guests.”

Anne owns two other wedding venues in addition to Gramercy. The 1840s Plaza in Baltimore is located in a 19th-century inn, and the Grey Rock Mansion is a historic estate in Pikesville, Maryland.

Hosting Over 100 Weddings & Parties Each Year

Gramercy Mansion sees guests of all ages. The wedding venue has welcomed 20-something newlyweds who’re just starting out as well as married couples who have been together for 40+ years and want to renew their vows. Every year, Gramercy hosts over 100 weddings and parties for couples hoping to create unforgettable memories at this quiet and intimate destination.

As a wedding venue, Gramercy Mansion has 4.7 stars on The Knot and 4.6 stars on WeddingWire. Newlyweds often have high expectations for their wedding days, and they’re blown away by the gorgeous views and top-notch service at Gramercy.

Gramercy’s breathtaking indoor and outdoor wedding venues can accommodate up to 200 guests.

“Our wedding at the Gramercy was amazing — everything we wanted and more,” said Kimberly F. in her review. “The place felt like a real home. We loved the idea of allowing our guest places to sit and socialize, the adventure of walking the mansion, and the opportunity to wander the gardens.”

Katie Z. said she appreciated having Gramercy Mansion as a hangout spot for her guests after the ceremony and reception. At the end of the night, the newly married couple cleared off the dance floor and headed for the private pool to relax with their closest friends and family members.

“Gramercy’s staff was outstanding — super helpful and responsive with great recommendations for vendors,” Katie said. “I’m so happy we were able to celebrate our wedding in such a memorable and special place.”

“Having our wedding at Gramercy Mansion was an absolute dream,” Jayne W. gushed on The Knot. “The staff was helpful, communicative, and supportive throughout the planning process. We had our closest friends stay at the mansion on Friday and Saturday evening, and they are still raving about the rooms and the overall experience. We could not have been happier!”

Scott said his wedding party was just big enough to fill all 11 of Gramercy’s rooms, and that led to an intimate wedding experience. Everyone was in one place during the big day, and that led to a relaxed atmosphere as the couple got ready to say “I do” at the Atrium.

“The Gramercy’s warm and cozy vibes were just what we were looking for our wedding to have,” Scott said on WeddingWire. “Breakfast in the morning was incredible, and the A+ service from all of the staff was out of this world.”

Gramercy Mansion is Perfect for a Romantic Getaway

Gab C. chose well when she picked the Carriage House at Gramercy Mansion as her wedding venue. The staff made sure every detail was taken care of, so not even rain could dampen spirits on this special day. Their attentive care helped the bride and groom relax and enjoy the moment while creating memories that would last a lifetime.

“My husband jokes he got a small ‘wedding shower’ on our wedding date,” Gab said. “Do yourself a favor and check out Gramercy, you won’t regret it.”

Gramercy Mansion is a unique wedding venue because couples can book all 11 rooms and turn their wedding day into a private weekend party. Plus, couples can continue to return to Gramercy Mansion anytime to either walk the grounds or stay at the bed and breakfast whenever they want to celebrate their love and relive those romantic memories.
