The Scoop: You may go to Bloomi’s website to check out its enticing range of women’s intimate care products, but you’ll stay for its sexual health resources, relationship advice, and scientifically-backed research. Everything from Bloomi’s vibrators to pleasure oil is made from sustainable and natural ingredients. The company’s dedication to inclusivity not only makes its products guilt-free, but on the cutting edge of women’s wellness.
All too often, there’s a gap between comfort and sex. So many people see pleasure as something that must be achieved, a reward that takes great effort on your part to earn. Bloomi’s goal is to bridge this gap with safety and wellness at the forefront.
Founded by sexologist Rebecca Alvarez Story, Bloomi is an intimate care company that creates ethically made products for women. In addition to medical-grade silicone vibrators and aphrodisiac-infused pleasure oils, Bloomi’s main export is guilt-free pleasure.
Bloomi’s products unapologetically prioritize female pleasure, but this is not the only reason why its products are guilt-free. Bloomi is on the cutting edge of plant-based sex and intimate care products. Using scientifically backed research, Bloomi’s products are made with all-natural ingredients for every type of body.
We spoke to Bloomi’s Sr. Marketing Coordinator, Destiny Padilla, about Bloomi’s dedication to inclusivity and plant-based ingredients. According to her, it all started when Rebecca noticed a worrying trend in the intimate care industry.
“Rebecca would have sessions with her clients and she realized that there were a lot of products on the shelves that she wanted to recommend to her clients that were not clean, or weren’t good for your body,” Destiny explained. This sparked a revolutionary idea: What if women’s intimate care products were made sustainably, from the packaging to the product itself?
“(Bloomi) created a clean standard for what we wanted to be in our marketplace,” Destiny said. Before you enjoy Bloomi’s range of clean products, you can take advantage of the company’s educational resources. Know what you’re buying and how it will benefit your body before you take out your credit card.
Bloomi is dedicated to inclusivity and education
Every body type, orientation, and identity deserves ecstasy. “We very intentionally craft these products to be inclusive,” Destiny told us.
All bodies are different, not only in size and shape but in terms of mobility, sensitivity, and identity. Destiny highlighted Bloomi’s educational resources for consumers who are curious about their own bodies and sexual needs. “People don’t really need to wonder about what they’re putting in their body with us,” she said.
There’s a Starter Bundle for people who are new to intimate care products, and flexible handcuffs made out of medical-grade silicone for the more adventurous among us.
No one wants their most intimate moments affected by confusion and uncertainty, two emotions that pop up when your sexual wellness could use some fine-tuning. On its website, Bloomi has published articles about everything from water versus oil-based lubricants to myths about having sex after 40. This way, consumers from all walks of life can shop for intimate products with helpful educational tools to guide them through the process.
Bloomi sells an educational e-book and offers featured guides to sexual wellness on its website. The company’s diverse array of resources is partly why Destiny refers to Bloomi as a destination. It’s not only a place to buy products, but to learn the intimate details about what you’re buying, how it works, and why it’s important.
There are moisturizers, foaming washes, and pleasure oils as well, all created to make one’s experience as smooth and sensual as possible. The products are for everyone regardless of age and body type. Bloomi is also a bilingual brand with Latinx employees at the forefront. It takes a diverse team of creative thinkers and academics to make inclusive, high-quality products.
Clean products made with natural ingredients make the products as accessible as possible, even to those with sensitive skin. “Pleasure and hygiene products should be free from toxic ingredients and allergens such as glycerin, gluten, phthalates, and more,” according to Bloomi’s website.
Bloomi’s products are made from natural ingredients
According to Destiny, the sex product industry is largely unregulated. Bloomi was born from a desire to set a standard in the industry and promote clean, scientifically-backed products.
Bloomi boasts “the only Clean Standard in the industry,” according to its website. “Bloomi conducted a bunch of studies and created a banned list of ingredients that should never touch your intimate areas,” Destiny told us. “We use this academic research to guide our product development. So we’re kind of pioneering the industry to hopefully guide them to be more clean.”
On this list — also called The “No” List — you’ll find mineral oil, paraffin, and petroleum, all of which Bloomi says “can break down condoms and increase risk of pH imbalance and STIs,” in addition to many other banned ingredients.
The “Yes” List boasts naturally-occurring ingredients that soothe the body and promote arousal. Ashwagandha, chamomile, and cinnamon are only a few of the healthy ingredients on Bloomi’s “Yes” List.
“We tried to find a plant-based alternative to what’s already on the shelf,” Destiny explained. She named glycerin as one of the most common ingredients in intimate products, despite its potentially-harmful properties. Glycerin is in plenty of soaps, moisturizers, and lubes, but not in any of Bloomi’s products; it’s on the company’s “No” list.
“It is not great for intimate parts, as it may trigger bacterial vaginosis, pH imbalance, and increase risk of STIs,” according to the company’s website. With this in mind, Bloomi set out to find cleaner, safer ingredients. “Finding the alternatives, like which is more natural, was really key in terms of developing the products,” Destiny told us.
Bloomi’s emphasis on natural ingredients extends to its packaging as well. Each product’s package is either recyclable or compostable. Bloomi’s products aren’t only paraben-free, but guilt-free, as well. And guilt is definitely a word that belongs on Bloomi’s “No” list.
Women’s sexual wellness begins with Bloomi
Bloomi’s goal may be to lead the sexual wellness market in clean products, but that doesn’t mean it wants to walk alone.
“We’re always looking to our peers to join the clean push,” Destiny said. “The hope for Bloomi is that we would be among other brands who are also making that push for consumers to not have to question what they’re buying.”
By ensuring clean products, Bloomi hopes to gain the trust and loyalty of its consumers. Everything from vibrators to lubricant to Bloomi’s Arousal Oils are made with intention and care. Destiny shared some of her favorite products with us as well.
“(The) Caress is our full-body massager,” Destiny said. “You can use the pleasure-ball side to get knots in your shoulders or to do a massage, which is great foreplay.” Of course, the Caress Full-Body Massager has multiple uses, if you catch our drift. “The other side can be used internally,” Destiny explained. “It has three different vibration settings. It’s an all-in-one product. So I’ve been obsessed with this one lately.”
Bloomi values scientific research, and its dedication to cutting-edge research means its products are always evolving and improving. It even takes biology into account, such as with its Desire Sensual Pleasure Oil.
“Something that’s unique are the botanicals and aphrodisiacs that are contained in some of the products,” Destiny said. “Aphrodisiacs help stimulate the blood circulation and balance your hormones.” These biological effects come in handy when you’re trying to get in the mood, as Destiny explained.
When it comes to creating clean and inclusive sexual wellness products, Bloomi hopes to lead the charge. The fact that Bloomi cares about the ingredients and biological implications of its products proves it’s already on the cutting edge of women’s wellness.
