The Scoop: Singles and couples can face many challenges while navigating the modern dating and relationship scene. Finding compatible partners can be time-consuming, and even those who get into relationships can be confused about how to move forward and maintain those intimate feelings. Miss Date Doctor aims to help U.K. singles and couples deal with those often complex issues. The company’s coaches can counsel singles and couples on whatever dating woes they face, whether it’s learning to understand social cues or confronting a cheating partner. Miss Date Doctor also allows singles and couples to conveniently connect with its experts by text, online chat, or in person, and the company has a voice search feature, Whatsapp button, and AI bot to quickly assist with queries.

Every entrepreneur has a genesis story, but Nia Williams’ launch into dating coaching began with personal loss. A few years ago, a friend of Nia’s couldn’t cope with the relationship issues he was having. But instead of seeking help from his friends, family members, or a mental health professional, he committed suicide.

After her friend’s death, Nia said she realized that something was missing from traditional therapy outlets — an accessible, all-hours service for those who were emotionally distraught.

Miss Date Doctor therapists help clients work through their dating, relationship, and intimacy issues.

“His death gave me the idea to start something more hands-on. Going to see a therapist once a week isn’t cutting it anymore. Once clients leave the session, they feel isolated and on their own again,” Nia told us.

Motivated to solve that challenge, Nia founded Miss Date Doctor in 2016. The practice employs both professional coaches and psychotherapists who can help clients deal with a wide variety of issues related to dating, relationships, and intimacy.

Today, the practice is thriving, and Miss Date Doctor employs more than 30 therapists who work in 127 locations across the United Kingdom.

That focus on helping clients deal with everyday dating issues has earned the practice a devoted following. One of the main reasons is that clients don’t have to wait until regular business hours to speak to a therapist — they can Skype, text, or call Miss Date Doctor whenever a problem arises.

Many Ways to Connect with Professional Dating Coaches

Nia’s inspiration to create Miss Date Doctor was to remedy the isolation that her friend felt from the other people in his life. That’s why the company’s most important mission is to offer clients ways to stay in constant contact with their coaches.

Clients can choose to meet up with their coaches in one of the many Miss Date Doctor offices across the U.K. Many coaches are also willing to travel if clients would prefer to meet in person but can’t make it in.

“If you only want to work with one coach, he or she will travel to meet you in that location,” Nia said.

Clients can contact Miss Date Doctor coaches whenever they need help with relationship or dating issues.

Clients can also interact with their coaches online if they prefer. New clients create a Miss Date Doctor account and start chatting with a coach on WhatsApp or by phone right away. They may also book regular appointments with coaches online, as well. Others prefer to talk via online chat or Skype.

Once clients purchase a package, they can contact their coaches between sessions, as well.

“We don’t just speak to you for an hour and then push you away. All of our customers can talk or chat whenever something is going wrong in their lives,” Nia said.

In 2020, the company plans to roll out yet another way for clients to communicate with Miss Date Doctor coaches — through a dedicated app.

“We have a lot of plans for 2020 to help our customers,” said Nia.

Offering Hands-On Guidance and Ongoing Support

Miss Date Doctor has also expanded its selection of dating and relationship packages. Initially, the company had only five service packages to gauge how the public would respond. The response was so positive that the company now offers more than 130 packages that provide coaching and counseling on a variety of relationship issues.

When clients visit the services page on Miss Date Doctor, they can sort by Singles, Men’s Dating Services, Women’s Dating Services, and Packages for Couples. Then, they can choose their specific issue.

For example, in Packages for Couples, clients can sign up for general therapy for three, six, or eight sessions, and even choose a specific area of focus. The “My Partner Is Addicted to Social Media” package and the “I Want to Marry My Partner But I Am Not Sure, I’m Scared” package are just two of the particular concerns that Miss Date Doctor coaches can address.

Nia also mentioned a popular package for men. If most of a man’s friends are married, the man may struggle to find someone who will go out with him to a bar or club. Without friends by his side, he may lack the confidence to approach the women there.

“Coaches will pose as friends, and they’ll go out with you for the weekend and help you interact with others. They’ll also suggest where you need to improve,” Nia said.

She also mentions the Consistent Support package, which gives clients even more time to talk with a coach or therapist.

“You can then talk to someone consistently and tell them about what’s going on in your life,” Nia said.

Miss Date Doctor is Modernizing the U.K. Dating Industry

Miss Date Doctor is a unique company in the U.K. dating scene. Not only does it offer singles more access and attention, but it also provides clients personalized packages to address issues on an individual basis.

“We’re different in the way we present things, and we have many more offerings than what’s often out there,” Nia said.

Though she only founded Miss Date Doctor four years ago, Nia said she’s pleased with the response that the company has received. She attributes that success to her team’s willingness to listen to client needs and change whatever isn’t working.

“I’m proud of what we’ve achieved so far. We are a pretty new company, but we have a vast number of customers,” she said.

One of Nia’s favorite success stories is about a client who kept coming on too strong in her interactions with potential romantic partners. The client would regularly write men too many text messages, often pestering them until they ended the relationship.

“She used to come on very strong, which ended in numerous rejections. She would often double-text, which can ruin communications with a man,” Nia told us.

Miss Date Doctor coaches helped the client recognize that she needed to take a step back and give her partner space while building a connection. After taking those suggestions to heart, the client grew a relationship, got married, and the couple have since had a child.

The coaches and therapists at Miss Date Doctor have heard plenty of similar stories. But, most importantly, Nia said her team helps clients feel less alone.

“We’ll talk to you every day to see how you’re feeling,” she said. “Our company culture emphasizes empathy. That’s what we’re about.”
