After more than seven years with Match Group, Director of Brand Communications & Partnerships Michael Kaye is leaving the company.

Kaye announced his departure on August 5, just one month after being promoted to Global Director of Narrative & Communications at Match Group, where he led communications strategy for Match Group’s Everyone & Everywhere (E&E) portfolio.

“Seven years ago, I joined Match Group for my first in-house communications role. This Friday will be my last day,” he wrote on LinkedIn. “Professionally, Match Group challenged me, grew me, and stretched me in ways I never imagined.”

“Challenges” is putting it mildly; within one year at OkCupid, Kaye faced an intimidating news cycle dominated by a pandemic and complicated U.S. politics. His role as OkCupid’s U.S. PR Manager turned out to be a fateful one: He increased OkCupid’s press placements by 195%.

Kaye didn’t stop at OkCupid. As his role grew, he worked across several Match Group brands with varying demographics, including Match, The League, and Plenty of Fish.

It’s fair to say that Kaye has been something of a wunderkind in the communications world, earning spots on Brand Innovators’ and PRWeek’s 40 Under 40 lists. His time at Match Group highlights his reputation as a trusted figure: Within 6 months as OkCupid’s U.S. PR Manager in 2019, Kaye started taking on more international responsibilities.

If you ask him, his time at OkCupid — and his achievements — is still what he remembers most.

“During my first full year, OkCupid earned more media coverage than at any point in its 15-year history, and less than two years into the role, I was honored to be recognized by Business Insider as one of the top technology PR professionals,” he said.

One of Kaye’s highest-profile positions at Match Group was leading marketing and communications for the GBTQ+ dating app Archer. Although the app shut down in 2026, Kaye’s role as its public spokesperson highlighted his prominence within Match Group’s communications team.

And yet, in Kaye’s own words: “What I’ll remember most [about Match Group] isn’t the work. It’s the people … That sentiment says everything.”

Kaye hasn’t revealed his next project, but he’s hinted at a new opportunity that will most likely play to his greatest strength: Dynamic and highly relevant brand storytelling at a near-universal scale.
