The Scoop: At the height of the pandemic, couples craved connection more than ever, even if they were quarantined. Vinny and Ana Gersen understood this first-hand, which is why they created 4Lovebirds. 4Lovebirds’ date night boxes were curated for couples who wanted to add a little spontaneity to date night. You and your partner can also check out 4Lovebirds’ app for instant date ideas, creative quizzes, and unique communication tools.
As a self-proclaimed introvert, I didn’t think I’d struggle much with quarantine during the pandemic. But like so many others, I learned just how mundane life can be when you spend it within the same four walls.
I can’t be the only one who wished for a night spent eating take-out with a friend, or a date night at the movies. Even these ordinary activities transformed into the stuff of dreams.
Couples, both new and established, faced an entirely different beast during the pandemic. All that time spent together, and nothing to do, nowhere to go — something married couple Vinny and Ana Gersen experienced first-hand. “We saw a lot of couples having a hard time spending that much time together,” Vinny told us.
Instead of languishing in boredom, they got to work on a novel idea: Curated boxes for couples that bring date night to the comfort of your own home. They called their company 4Lovebirds. Can you guess the app’s main demographic?
Of course, most of us have returned to our daily activities in recent years. But every couple can benefit from the wonders within one of Vinny and Ana’s curated date night boxes. And with the launch of their new app, 4Lovebirds has entered an even more exciting phase in its quest to transform date night.
Date Night Boxes Encourage Creativity and Spontaneity
The most successful couples support each other with their individual strengths, and Vinny and Ana did the same with 4Lovebirds. “In 2020, we decided to put together everything (Ana) had learned over the years with what I have learned,” Vinny told us.
“We looked into conversation starters and things people can relate to and discuss and have a nice conversation about, you know?” Vinny and Ana’s relatability helped their early business endeavors catch on. “We sold out in a month.”
Vinny and Ana used their own relationship habits as inspiration for 4Lovebirds’ products. “That’s how we try to build anything,” Vinny said. “Would we use this? Would we do this? If we would, then we would decide to give it to the public.”
With this creative process at work, 4Lovebirds launched conversation starters, matching outfits, jewelry, and curated date night boxes. The curated date night boxes stand out for their creativity and overall value. In each box, you’ll find items geared toward the box’s theme.
“We started building the boxes with the conversation starters,” Vinny said. The themed date night boxes contain items that add spontaneity to an otherwise average date night. “We created a massage box, a game night box, and a painting box,” he explained.
The massage box contains plenty of calming items, from lavender-scented massage oil and bath salts to cozy sleeping masks and a massage tool.
The game night box is perfect for fun-loving couples who want to put together a puzzle while downing a tequila shot (or two).
The painting box is great for creative couples who want to join in on the whole “paint your partner’s portrait” trend.
Whichever you choose, you’re bound to learn more about your partner at the end of date night.
The positive response to the boxes inspired Vinny and Ana to create an app where their customers can find even more date night ideas.
“We saw that there is just so much potential to help couples,” Vinny said. “So we decided to move into an app for couples.”
Never Scramble for Fun Date Ideas Again
The 4Lovebirds app is a destination for indecisive couples who want to shake up date night, but just aren’t sure how.
The app’s main feature is its date idea generator. You can choose between generic but helpful ideas for free, or more specific and personalized ideas for a price. A monthly subscription is $2.99 and a yearly subscription is $29.99.
“Since (the app) connects to you and your partner, it will understand the things you like and the things your partner likes,” Vinny explained.
Like most of Vinny and Ana’s business ideas, the 4Lovebirds app was born from their own experience trying to come up with inventive date ideas. “This actually happened to Ana and I so many times,” Vinny told us. “We’d decide that we’re gonna go out or that we want to do something and then we would just end up sitting there, because we didn’t really know what to do.”
“(The app) tries to make it easier because you have so many ideas,” he continued. “You can just go there and say, ‘I want to do something fun tonight, give me an idea of something fun to do.’ It gives you ideas of things to do that you’re probably going to like. And if you don’t like them, you can just ask for more ideas.”
AI brings dating ideas to life on 4Lovebirds’ app. “AI will give you recommended ideas,” Vinny explained. And since Vinny and Ana designed the app with AI, the date ideas are personalized to couples of all ages. Still, with more personalized content on the way, the sky’s the limit for creative dating ideas.
“You can ‘favorite’ or schedule date ideas for later,” Vinny said. 4Lovebirds’ dedication to strengthening relationships is apparent on the app, which offers plenty of other fun activities for couples to do together.
You and your partner can take quizzes that improve bonds and teach you more about each other. The Love Gestures and I Need You buttons make telling your partner that you need attention as easy as a click.
Plus, the Anniversary Countdown and Milestone Roadmap features make planning an extra-special celebration with your partner even easier. The app can even send reminders so you never miss a date or a milestone.
Of course, Vinny and Ana went back to their roots and provided conversation starters on the app and inside the date night boxes, as well.
“(4Lovebirds is) being built out of love,” Vinny emphasized.
4Lovebirds Offers Inventive Ways For Couples to Communicate
Vinny and Ana may be new to the app development world, but they’re impressively focused on making the app as intuitive and helpful as possible. As Vinny told us, “We will be (improving) the app over time and creating new versions as soon as we start to get some more feedback from people.”
“We try to really listen to the couples,” he continued. After all, communication is essential to any healthy relationship, something Vinny told us himself.
“Communication is the basis for everything,” Vinny said. “In a relationship, if there’s no communication, it will be very hard to move on.” He and Ana built communication techniques into the app so couples could learn new ways to connect.
Obviously, the Love Gestures button, which sends virtual hugs and kisses to your partner, is one way of telling your partner how you feel without actually saying anything. And the I Need You button says everything your partner needs to know: You need their attention in that moment.
The app encourages communication with its Daily Question, as well. The Daily Question prompts couples to dive deep into their emotions. It requires vulnerability, and the more comfortable you are being vulnerable with your partner, the better your communication will be.
Vinny recommends surprising your partner with creative date ideas, but he emphasizes the benefits of planning a date as a couple, as well.
“You don’t need to plan to the detail, but plan it in a way,” he suggested.
Talk to each other about the kind of dates you like and don’t like. The app can highlight your individual interests, which makes it easier to avoid disastrous date nights — say, a dinner spent eating seafood despite your partner’s severe shellfish allergy, which you accidentally forgot about.
As Vinny and Ana’s relationship continues to grow, so too does the app, as well as the curated date night boxes. “The mission is to (take couples) from routine to romance,” Vinny explained.
With the 4Lovebirds app improving every day, it’s safe to say Vinny and Ana are well on their way to completing their mission.
