Singles are having trouble deciding what they really want from us. Do they want the dating industry to innovate for AI-enhanced dating apps, or do they want it to provide adorable in-person meet-cutes? The answer is simple: They want us to give them both.
The new matchmaker directory and social media platform YourSinglesHub does just that. Co-founded by matchmaker Lorraine Adams and corporate veteran Bill Alena, YourSinglesHub is not a dating app, and it’s not a matchmaking service.
Instead, it connects users to “free apps to high-end matchmakers to dating coaches and styling services to give all our users the very best chance of finding the relationship they want and deserve,” Adams told us.
YourSinglesHub’s AI recommendation engine has “structured and compassionate guardrails”.
YourSinglesHub’s unique offerings, including a Personalized Dating Plan, were developed alongside a nuanced AI recommendation engine with “structured and compassionate guardrails” that prevent the algorithm from making inaccurate suggestions and matches.
YourSinglesHub is my personal favorite kind of innovation: An efficient all-in-one-place approach to matchmaking backed up with real experience.
As the co-founders work to scale the platform, they told DatingNews all about YourSinglesHub’s beginnings, its relationship with AI, and how they hope it — and the dating industry as a whole — will change in the future.
DN: After decades as a matchmaker, why build an AI tool instead of a dating app?
Lorraine Adams: Most dating apps only address a small part of the dating market. But after 26 years helping people find love, I know the support modern singles need right now is far greater.
With thousands of apps to choose from, every day I was speaking with people who were completely overwhelmed, exhausted and often spending money on subscriptions which weren’t working well for them.
Looking for love should be exciting not disheartening, so I began the site in 2022 as a completely free independent directory of every dating app, matchmaker and dating service provider. The timing was fortuitous as it was just as Chat GPT was launching and I could immediately see how AI was going to be a game changer.
I knew it would take away some of the admin-heavy tasks while allowing matchmakers and app specialists to focus on what really matters in dating — the magic of human connection.

The pilot site came onto Bill Alena’s radar and like the best dating stories, we just clicked. He could see the potential and brought his US expertise and tech knowledge to help build the concept.
We have just launched to consumers with an amazing pioneering dating comparison site, which includes a real-time singles social feed and an AI-driven free dating strategy generator. Users simply answer a few questions and we generate a personal dating plan suggesting the best route for them covering every type of service.
We have a fantastic developer and editorial team on board, but [we] have deliberately not taken investment yet as we wanted to get the prototype site up and running first, with consumer feedback. Now that it’s working well, we’ll look at next steps and move to create an app version and scale the idea globally.
DN: Do you see AI as a complement to traditional matchmaking, a competitor, or something else entirely?
LA: A machine can never match like a person can. Love and attraction is indefinable, and a good matchmaker will always be able to read when the magic is about to happen. For that reason, AI is very much a complement to traditional matchmaking.
In my UK-based Club-introductions.co.uk business, we’re seeing AI hit a 75% rate for psychology markers, and it’s certainly helpful for managing a large client base.
However, the application for YourSinglesHub is different. Here, AI is helping us sift through millions of different service dating combinations to find the right one for each individual user. When managed with human oversight, that’s incredibly powerful and gives each of our users the best possible chance to find a tailored dating plan which will truly work for them.
DN: What safeguards are you building into the AI recommendations to ensure quality and real emotional compatibility, as opposed to just data matching?
Bill Alena: Our approach starts with the recognition that real compatibility is far more than shared interests or demographic alignment.
Our user questionnaire, which informs the free Personal Dating Plan, is specifically designed to explore deeper dimensions such as values, attachment styles, communication preferences and life goals, and our AI is built to weigh these signals far more heavily than surface-level data points.
We also make a critical distinction between similarity and compatibility. Two people can look alike ‘on paper’ and be a poor emotional match, so our system is designed to catch that.
“Our AI is designed to challenge assumptions, not just confirm them.” —Bill Alena
For example, certain combinations of attachment styles may score as highly similar but are flagged as potentially challenging pairings.
Equally important is what we call the ‘algorithm bubble’ problem, which is where AI simply reinforces what a user says they want, rather than what they actually need. Just like a real matchmaker, we’ve built safeguards against that. Our AI is designed to challenge assumptions, not just confirm them.
Finally, we believe in transparency. Users can see why we have suggested a provider, not just which provider. That keeps human judgment at the centre of the process, with our AI acting as a thoughtful guide rather than a black box making decisions for people.
DN: How do you ensure YourSinglesHub’s AI respects nuanced qualities like emotional readiness or personal growth stages?
BA: As a dating service provider search facility, as opposed to a dating app, this is crucial for us. Before we begin with any user, we need to assess where someone genuinely is within their personal journey, so it’s baked into the platform from the ground up.
Our questionnaire gently teases out this information — whether they’re recently out of a long relationship, actively working on themselves, or truly ready to build something serious. The AI uses those signals to match people not just on who they are, but on where they are.
We also treat profiles as living and dynamic, not static snapshots. As users grow, update their answers, and engage with the platform, the AI adapts. The person someone is at month three of using YourSinglesHub may be very different from who they were on day one, and our system reflects that.
“Our goal is to … find the right dating tool or app or provider that will more likely let the right kind of connection happen at the right time.” —Bill Alena
The more they engage, the better we can fine tune and help navigate their journey. Where possible, we also use open-ended questions that allow users to express nuance in their own words, rather than forcing everything into a checkbox.
That gives us richer signals — things like self-awareness, ambivalence, or genuine readiness — that a multiple-choice, binary-data format would simply miss.
And critically, we are deliberate about what we don’t do. We don’t use pressure notifications, artificial urgency, or any design patterns that push emotionally unready users toward certain services before they’re in the right headspace.
Our goal is to meet people where they are and find them the right dating tool or app or provider that will more likely let the right kind of connection happen at the right time.
DN: What do you see as the next evolution of AI in matchmaking: a recommendation engine, a coaching assistant, or something else entirely?
LA: I believe AI to be an added asset to the matchmaking sector, enabling it to scale and grow in a way that no matchmaking business has been able to do until now.
Matchmakers can currently only take on a certain amount of clients at any one time, reducing the scalability. But ‘contracting out’ certain aspects of a matchmaking service to AI allows the matchmaker to act as an overseer. It gives matchmakers more time to ensure shortlisted matches are the very best to select from.
“With AI to support the admin, we’ll see improved success rates and happier customers.” —Lorraine Adams
I genuinely believe we’ll be able to spend more time on the most human aspects of the role. And with AI to support the admin, we’ll see improved success rates and happier customers. With all the fears around the impact of AI in some sectors, this is one where it will help to spread the love!
In terms of YourSinglesHub.com, I feel it is the future for the sector. By using AI, it helps singles find their very best services and provides them with a safe space to share experiences and support each other. It also supports every single dating app and service in the industry by sending them new and relevant customers, instead of it just being the top 4 who almost have a monopoly.
It’s a win-win, and a true match made in heaven for all of us in the dating world.
