Cana Connections is a new faith-based matchmaking service that not only facilitates Catholic romantic relationships, but helps to strengthen the bond of marriage.

A self-described “Christ-centered” matchmaking service, Cana Connections understands that marriage isn’t only a means of emotional connection to its clients, but of spiritual connection — a meaningful way to honor God.

In the religious matchmaking niche, Cana Connections stands out as a new option for Catholic singles who want the more personal touch of a matchmaker.

Cana Connection’s chief matchmaker also happens to be its CEO, Patty Montagno. Her company may bring strangers together, but it’s rooted in her own deeply personal experience. “I understand the longing for a holy spouse and the quiet heartbreak of waiting,” she said in a press release. “But I believe God uses our heart’s desires to call us to mission.”

Montagno’s mission is to facilitate faith-based romantic connections using skills that dating apps can’t replicate.

“Marriage is more than compatibility, shared hobbies, or fleeting chemistry,” she says on her website. “The couples I hope to unite aren’t simply looking for a relationship — they’re seeking someone who embraces this sacred calling, with sacrifice, fidelity, and faith at its core.”

Religion Remains a Powerful Niche in the Dating Industry

Religious dating apps and services fall into the “niche” category, but this doesn’t make them any less impactful in their own communities.

These types of faith-based connections are still prioritized by millions of Americans, even as the overall percentage of people who value religion has decreased, according to Pew Research. Forty-four percent of surveyed Catholics said that their religion is very important in their lives, a 14% decrease from 2014.

The number of Catholic Americans may be decreasing, but this number — 44% — still suggests that Catholics in the U.S. factor religion into their overall decision-making, including in their romantic lives.

With 62% of American adults identifying generally as Christians, religion is still a valuable demographic for matchmakers and dating platforms alike. Montagno assures prospective clients that they can expect a highly personalized experience at Cana Connections, one that puts their criteria at the forefront of the matchmaking process.

In fact, clients are encouraged to create dating profiles that are as detailed and authentic as possible. Montagno wants to work with people who are honest about their “faith, values, and dreams,” as doing so will “lay the foundation for meaningful connections.”

Cana announced its launch on Easter Monday, a coincidence that wasn’t lost on the matchmaking service:

“As Christians around the world celebrate the profound love of Christ’s Resurrection, Cana Connections emerges as a beacon of hope for Catholic singles seeking sacramental marriage as a path to holiness.”
